C is for.... context
Idea? check.
Right reasons? check.
Emotion? check.
Motivated, good attitude? check.
Can't wait to start?? check.
But where do you start? Well, you've started already.... just by thinking about it you got your brain moving, gearing up for new things, opening itself up to this experience....
Vocabulary should be learnt in context, not through memorising dictionaries. This approach is good for the first one hundred words, but grammar is best learnt by seeing examples and imitating.
Language learning is not about memorising grammar rules and whole dictionaries.
You need to find the fun in it, explore, find someone to help you, make friends....

Hello, Fellow Challenger. I think it's to get some novels in the chosen language, too. The French write two-page books: one for the story in French; the other, for the translation. Very helpful. Aswesome task you've given yoursel. I'm #424 from Rockin' Chair Reflections. Come visit when you can.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, yes you're right. Grammar is essential I believe, but there are fun ways of learning it instead of out of textbooks.
